Murraywood Swim and Racquet Club is located on a private 8-acre site in the Murraywood subdivision. Murraywood features 4 hardcourt tennis courts and 4 clay courts (the Best in Columbia). Our pool features a shallow end for kids, six 25-meter lap lanes, and a deep diving well with both low and high dives. There is also a separate enclosed kiddie pool. Our club is owned exclusively by its members and operated by a Board of Directors elected from the membership for two-year terms. A Message from your President and the Board:

At Murraywood, we have raised our families, raised a gazebo, raised a ruckus and raised more than a few eyebrows.  It's now time to consider raising a couple of courts.   Courts 5 and 6 have eroded and settled over the years, and "Lake Murraywood" appears any time we have more than a touch of rain, rendering both courts unplayable.  We received a quote to repair the courts:  it came in at $12,850, an amount we could not factor into our budget.  We decided that if we had money left over at the end of the fiscal year, we could do the courts then.   A couple of members have approached the Board to suggest an assessment to have the courts repaired immediately.  As a Board, we are hesitant to do so, but thought a voluntary contribution fundraiser might achieve the goal rather quickly.  Based on membership numbers, a donation of $125 from Family Facility/Tennis members, and $75 from Individual Facility/Tennis members would enable us to more than pay for the repairs.  We decided to launch the Court-Raisin' Fundraiser!   Sandra Penland has pledged $200, as have Anne and Tony Reynolds.  Please consider contributing - any amount will help!  If you're unsure, play on the newly resurfaced courts 7 and 8 and imagine having all four of our courts in great shape!   Check the progress towards our goal in the kiosk!   Make checks payable to MSRC with "Court Fundraiser" in the memo section.  Donations may be given to any Board member, placed in the guest fee box or mailed to:   Court-Raisin' Fundraiser MSRC PO Box 334 Irmo, SC 29063

Now Hiring for Summer Pool Jobs

March 1, 2013

Hiring is now open for summer jobs at Murraywood.  Consideration for employment will be given to all Murraywood members upon completion of an employment application and timely submission no later than March 22, 2013.  Applications submitted AFTER March 22, 2013 will NOT be considered unless we need to hire additional personnel - NO EXCEPTIONS!

Former employees are REQUIRED to submit an application each year with verification of certifications.  Please forward this email to out of town college students!

Note to parents:  The position of lifeguard requires responsibility and maturity.  As such, we expect the applicants (not their parents) to communicate with us regarding their employment.  If your child has questions or concerns about their application or employment with Murraywood, they should contact the Pool Manager:  Beth Bradley, 803-476-7358.

Notes to applicants:
Because we do not deny employment to Murraywood members, we cannot guarantee how many hours per week you will receive.  Guards with seniority will receive more hours, and newer employees with scheduling flexibility will receive more hours than those with numerous scheduling conflicts.  Typically, a first year guard can expect one to two shifts per week if they have no scheduling conflicts (requests off).  Towards the end of summer, first year guards can expect more hours as senior guards return to college.
Applications must be received no later than March 22, 2013 for consideration.  Applications received after this date will be set aside and only considered if we do not receive enough applicants.
Last year, an error was made, and senior guards and assistant managers were overpaid by $1 per hour.  We will be adhering to the correct pay scale this year, as outlined in the attached document.
